Excess Deaths in England for those Aged 0 to 14
A quick post — today’s update of the Euromomo excess deaths for European countries has just arrived. I note the sudden increase in deaths for those aged 0 to 14 beyond the normal range at the far right hand side of the graph:
The graph shows excess deaths as a ‘statistical difference from normal’ since the start of 2020 (ie, since the arrival of covid). It would be nice to have absolute numbers as well (I’m sure they’re low), but this statistical indication is enough for now. Don’t worry about the yellow shaded area at the end — for this region the data isn’t complete and it nearly always plunges lower like this.
The aspect of interest is that at no point since the arrival of covid have excess deaths in the 0 to 14 age group risen above the normal range… Except for the period since week 41 (ie, since early October). For convenience I’ve highlighted in red the time period for which those aged 12-15 have been invited to get the covid vaccine…
I note that the excess deaths covers the whole range from 0-14, whereas only those aged 12-14 in this age group have been invited to get vaccinated. I’m sure the data for those aged 12-14 specifically would be very interesting to see, but for now it is mixed up with the data for those aged 0-12 (very few of whom have been vaccinated).
